Oh hi sun. It's been a while. I almost forgot you existed. We need to see each other more often! Rain is nice but only in moderation as with most things. Anyways, hope to see you around more often soon.

Han and Chewbacca DIE!

I know I'm a bit late with this, but it's still worth posting. After the DLC from the first Force Unleashed where Starkiller beats Luke and turns him to the dark side, I had a feeling we'd see these two die eventually. To see it actually happen was something else entirely though.

Seeing Princess Leia fighting Starkiller as a Jedi right after that was pretty cool. She puts up quite a fight. According to some of the expanded universe books Leia becomes a Jedi after Return of the Jedi so it isn't too far fetched. The ending shows a nice benefit of dual wielding. :P

Sims 3 Tutorial: How to Place Your Own Pigeons!

Wow, so one of my biggest annoyances with the new Late Night expansion is that there's no spawners for placing pigeons on the ground. They're in the new city Bridgeport, but they only seem to be in the central park which is not an actual lot you can modify. But I found a solution! Using the fog emitter included with Ambitions (not sure if it comes with Late Night too?) you can place pigeons wherever you want!

Here are the steps to follow to stage your own pigeon invasion!
1. Bring up the cheat box (shift, ctrl,c simultaneously) Type testingcheatsenabledtrue.
2. Type buydebug. A new section in buy mode should open up that's symbolized by a question mark (?)
3. Click on the ? and go to the misc section. The fog emitter is a blue sphere. Shouldn't have to scroll down very far to find it.
4. Place it anywhere you feel like.
5. Hold shift and left-click on the fog emitter. Click on "Set Visual Effect..."
6. Erase the default "ep2spiritfog" and replace it one of the following commands:
7. Hit enter (or click the checkmark, same difference)

Voila! You don't even need to wait for the pigeons appear, they pop up the instant you hit the enter key after typing in the command. I was quite annoyed to not see some kind of spawner object for pigeons, so I was stoked to come across something even better! I'll be making a short skit involving these pigeons, so keep your eyes peeled!

I feel so awesome for making this discovery. Maybe I should rename myself to the Iron Pigeon.

Long Time No Post!

Wow, almost a month since my last post already? Time sure flies. Hopefully this week I can do a new vlog if even a short one. Even though I have two exams and one assignment due this week there's plenty of downtime in between. Yep, first semester in Aussieland is almost done. Except for the odd week when something is actually due, it's felt really laid back compared to college which really surprised me.

The end of exam week will come with a really awesome reward! The latest Sims 3 expansion, Late Night, is coming out and it looks twice as good as Ambitions! And that expansion was still pretty decent. I'll be sure to post some videos of Late Night on my YouTube channel and put up some pictures on a new blog I'm making for strictly sim stuff.

I'll also be posting a video or two of my sims in Egypt. My sim versions of Bridgette and Geoff from Total Drama went to Egypt and while exploring one of the pyramids Bridgette was attacked and cursed by a mummy. If a sim gets the mummy's curse and you don't cure them within two sim weeks they will die. There's a few ways to get cured but I chose the most epic option which was to plead to the sphinx, navigate the dungeon beneath it, and seek cleansing from the Soulpeace statue at the end. With Geoff's help Bridgette made it all the way and she's in perfect health again. I didn't realize this until the very end, but it's like some crazy fanfiction come true. Being cursed by a mummy and then searching for a special statue kind of suits the zaniness of the Total Drama series though. Heck, this could have happened in Total Drama World Tour since Egypt was the first place they went to. The "mummy" turned out to just be Ezekiel though. Hilarious!

Seagull Fans Rejoice (if they exist)!

So a few days ago I was watching Stoked, and in the episode "Endless Bummer," the day manager at the hotel Andrew Baumer (or "Bummer" as the main characters call him) is revealed to be able to talk to seagulls. At the beginning one seagull refuses to leave the lobby, but Bummer argues with it and it eventually leaves (apparently the seagull insults his mother).

Bummer ends up getting fired after taking relaxation a bit too far after having a meltdown. Near the end of the episode the other characters setup a seagull invasion so Bummer can ward them off and get his job back. He ends up telling the gulls that there's an all-you-can-eat at Captain Ron's (the rival hotel). I think someone at Fresh TV knows me, but I don't know them.

I got Featured!!!

I'm happy to announce that my Sims 3 confession video did get featured on The Sims' YouTube channel! Here's the link to the confessions playlist:

What a great thing to wake up to.

I Must Confess...

...That I made a new video! As part of its advertising campaign for The Sims 3 coming to consoles this fall, EA produced commercials where various simmers confess their playing habits. They encourage YouTube users to submit their own video confessions. I've been meaning to do this for a while, but because of this rainy day I finally got around to getting it done. Without further ado here is my submission, hope this gets featured on their confessions playlist!

I Like my Sim Cars Cool and Fast!

So I got my hands on the latest Sims 3 stuff pack, The Sims 3 Fast Lane Stuff. Here are some examples of my sims' rides! You can probably tell that I love using create-a-style. It almost feels like I'm playing Need for Speed Underground when I use it with cars! LOL

Smiley car F1!

Stylin' truck for my TDI Geoff sim:

Jet and his motorcycle, named Rad Skull:

Cow print scooter! :D

Overall, I'm happy I bought this stuff pack. Though there are lots of sim cars to download from the Internet, they're all based on real-life brand vehicles which kills the Simlish culture of the game a bit. Now I have more than enough of a selection. I was surprised to see they went the extra mile to include another motorcycle and scooter! Sims can also have friendships with their vehicle which doesn't really do anything except that you get to name your vehicle once the friendship is good enough. Sims with the new vehicle enthusiast trait can name vehicles instantly. There's tons of nice stuff to decorate your garages with, and there's some great new outfits too. I especially love the new formalwear for men and the new high heel shoes for women.

My only gripe is that there's no cute animation when selecting the new trait in create-a-sim as there are with the others. Not a big deal, but it makes the trait look incomplete and I almost thought I had a bug the first time I selected it. If you like cars simmers and need stuff to clutter your sims' garages with, don't hesitate to buy Fast Lane!

Having no Internet for almost a week sucks. Just goes to show how much we rely on it in our daily lives. However, something good came out of that and I'm looking forward to showing it to you guys in my next vlog! Boredom can pay off....

Did you know that Australians call Macdonalds "Mackers?" LOL

Here's a random pun to make you laugh:

Today was such a nice day, I had to take the opportunity to film something outside. Now I've surpassed the number of prologue episodes! Be sure to watch the end as there is something really, really cool. Seriously.

Wheels of Change Keep Turning...

It's back to the daily grind of the work week...but don't despair! Here's a new episode of Aussie Life! My switchover to BA of Communications is discussed, as well as Anchorman and Star Wars. I encourage you readers to leave a comment about who your favorite character in the Star Wars universe is!

Also, I seriously think I could do the voices of the rabbids from Rayman Raving Rabbids. That weird background noise at the backpack part is my first attempt.

I Can Has Writing Skillz?

So recently I switched from a Bachelor of Journalism to a Bachelor of Communication (Digital Communication specialization, minoring in Popular Music and Public Relations) in order to broaden my career opportunities. That said, I still have two of the same classes I had at the start which are Shorthand for Journalists and Roots of Rock & Pop. Media Law, and News & Info Gathering have been replaced by Screenwriting and Intro to Public Relations.

Although I'm giving up my Wednesdays off for my two Screenwriting classes (a lecture and a tutorial), I get to hang out with Libby all day since I have those classes with her! Yay! Not to mention the teacher is quite interesting...I believe over the course of the day he dropped the F-bomb about 50 times total. Not in an angry way, just randomly inserted into his speech.

What I eventually have to do for Screenwriting is to write a script complete with plot, characters, location and dialogue that I entirely make up on my own. I've had this epic sci-fi story idea in my head for a number of years now, which I've been partially living out through The Sims. It involves time traveling cops, superpowers, and a villain that's completely lost it in a similar way to The Joker. The other day I started writing about it in the form of a short story and I was really surprised with what I came up with. I might read part of it in a future vlog!

Third Time's the Charm!

Another vlog is done, and it's probably the best one so far! My Canadian friend Libby makes her debut, and will most likely appear a lot more often from here on out.

Sim Toys Gone Wild!

A little break from the Australia blogging here...I was playing The Sims and my evil sim invented an octopus wind-up toy. Turns out it doesn't need to be wound up because it moves around by itself! However, what made this discovery amusing was that it was near a stereo so it looked like as if it was dancing to the music! Funny stuff. Here's a video I took of it:

Canada is Not Where I Am!

So it's been exactly a week since I landed in Australia! First off I have to say that I'm surrounded by Canadians. A lot of my neighbors happen to be from around the GTA! My apartment is really nice too, and I'm right by the pool which is awesome! Unfortunately, the weather hasn't been great so far. Save for one or two days, the weather has been pretty gloomy and I don't like having to deal with shorter daylight hours again. I'll let the pictures say the rest! Click on the descriptions to see the pictures.

At least the Aussie weather wasn't this bad...

Australia has some interesting birds!

A new hospital is being built directly across from the uni!

My bedroom!

I couldn't leave without my Sonic the Hedgehog figures!

Saturday, July 3, 2010

So now I'm officially on my way to Australia! Right now I'm stopped over in L.A and I'm excited to just get to Aussieland! I've already talked to a few people and they're all pretty excited. Oddly enough, I seem to be the only one that isn't already tired! It's weird because I only got 6 hours of sleep. Oh yeah, and the Burger King in the L.A terminal doesn't have chicken fries. WTH?

Happy 50th YouTube Upload Anniversary!

When I first made my YouTube account for uploading college assignments, I never would have thought it would reach 50 videos! My celebration video details some of what's to come in the near future...

Weather in The Sims 3?!

That's right! Watch my sim Leaf come across an interesting revelation:

You need the Ambitions expansion pack to do this. Buy the fog emitter under the misc. tab using the buydebug cheat and shift ctrl click on it and there's a place to type in effect names. Type in snowfallinglightday to get some snow! You have to place multiple emitters to get snow all over the lot. It can snow inside however. This does not have any effect on gameplay, it's an effect and nothing more at this point. It can also set up to be triggered through the hidden switches from World Adventures as shown in my video.

Weather just might be in EP3 folks. Seems like we've got confirmation that it's at least coming eventually!
Edit: Okay...looks like it's not EP3 then, as it's confirmed to be Late Night (Nightlife with Superstar and a bit of Apartment Life mixed in).

Special thanks goes to Goggalor from Mod The Sims for sharing how to do this! Original thread:

I'm going to go do some more experiments with this, the possibilities here are huge!

The Beginning

You might also know me as Captain THPS4. I'll be just posting random stuff in this blog, most of which will probably be about video games and my upcoming studies in Australia. I might also post some of my Sims 3 stuff as well, we'll see!
