Felt like taking a break from the blogging and YouTube thing. Might start again though. Maybe. Technical issues are preventing me from finishing my Aussie Life video blogs, but hopefully I can do a last entry in the near future to wrap it up. Can't believe it's been over 6 months since I arrived home. Where did the time go?!

Air BASS!

Air guitar is old fashioned now. I realized this thanks to my vampire sim Veronica. Take a look!



That somehow happened when I used Twallan's mastercontroller to switch to one of her friends who was visiting at the time. The upright bass rendered itself again when I switched back. I don't think it's Twallan's fault though, it's probably my MacBook's integrated graphics card.

Unlike other glitches in The Sims, this one provided some laughs. As long as it doesn't happen all the time it'll be more amusing than annoying.

IT'S ALL SO TRUE!!!

...Huh?

So I was playing through the newest levels added to the "Mine And Dine" part of Angry Birds and I came across this...well, gem, to be literal.

What the? How and why is a pig wearing crystals on its head? Soooo random. Anything to protect it from those avian terrorists I guess.

It seems I am building up a collection of video games featuring birds. First it was Tux Racer several years ago. Then about a year ago I started playing SuperTuxKart. A month ago I downloaded Angry Birds, and just this weekend I downloaded Jump Birdy Jump. As a bird lover, I approve.

My Freaking INSANE Luck

What's this Julian, another "continued" post? Wow, that guy is running out of ideas.

Seriously though, there's a reason for it. My good luck is continuing and I'd be crazy to not mention it. So this morning I go to my lecture. "It looks like it's about to rain," I think to myself as I go to class. While the lecture is going on, it pours hard off and on. The lecture finishes and it's stopped raining. Before heading back home I had to do a couple of things at uni. While walking over nearly the entire campus it barely rained. Then once I got on the bus? It poured hard again. Two guys got drenched before they got on. Before I had to get off the bus the rain almost completely stopped.

He's REALLY jealous of my luck. Yeah, that's it...

Deja vu! That said, I'm not going to push my luck too hard. I may take a cab to work later just in case. Or maybe not, it just got sunny right after typing that sentence. I heard from a friend that it's supposed to rain for at least the next week. I do wonder how much more luck I have with the rain. It's probably all going to come crashing down at some point but I'm doing my best to not think about that.

Anyone else have crazy luck like me?

In other news, in class this morning the guest lecturer who also happens to be teaching one of my other classes this semester showed Rubber again. HECK YEAH. If you don't know what Rubber is, it's a very creative film about a tire that comes to life and kills people. My Luck

So I decide to go grocery shopping today....

Start walking to bus stop. It begins to rain.

Get on bus. Starts to pour.

Get off bus. Rain lets off almost completely.

Pay for groceries. Leave store. Rain stops. Nothing but sun for rest of the day.

No, really? That's some unusually crazy luck. Also, this entry completes my own little challenge to make a blog post for every single day this week. I'm also in the double digits for blog posts in a single month. Woot!

It's That Day Again!

What is Rubber?

"In the Steven Spielberg movie E.T, why is the alien brown? No reason. In Love Story, why do the two main characters fall madly in love with each other? No reason...I could go on for hours with more examples. The list is endless. You probably never gave it a thought...but all great films, without exception, contain an important element of no reason."

Wow, just wow. Rubber is easily one of the most interesting films I've ever seen! I'm still trying to decide whether that's a good or bad thing. Directed and written by Quentin Dupieux, the plot involves a tire named Robert that comes alive. What does it end up doing?

Killing things. Lots of things.

Robert first starts off small. "He" first destroys a water bottle and then a scorpion by rolling over them. However, when he tries to roll over a battle of alcohol it does not break. The determined tire then starts emitting a loud noise that eventually cracks the bottle open. Apparently this is some form of psychokinesis. Then things really start to get strange. Robert then kills a rabbit, a crow, and a truck driver completely unprovoked. All the while, a bunch of people are watching the murders through binoculars provided by some strange man riding a bicycle.

At first it felt like a live action Pixar film watching a tire come to life and roll around, but Rubber is a horror film for some reason. If it were a man instead of a tire, it definitely would be a good reason.

Before all of this happens though, a cop breaks the fourth wall by telling us that this film is an homage to the "no reason," which is where that quote at the start of this post is from. He references things like how the people in Chainsaw Massacre aren't shown going to the bathroom, and that we can't see the air around us because there's no reason.

Class ended before the movie could, so I just might have to watch the rest of my film on my own time in order to see if the plot ever gets deeper than a tire killing things. I now leave you with the brilliant opening scene.

King's Peach!

So I woke up today and realized that my days were numbered. Literally. Today it's 14.

I had a very strange dream. There was an A/C who could talk, and it said "Sorry, not a fan." Then in another sequence my parents gave me a Fanta and a stick, saying that's their opinion of me. A "choo choo Twain" passed behind them. The last thing I remember was me looking down at my feet to see I was wearing loafers. Huh.

Later, I threw a boomerang. I nearly forgot how to throw one, but it came back to me. I wondered why it kept getting bigger. Well, then it hit me.

Before my Writing for Performance class started, I told the teacher I finally saw got around to seeing The King's Peach last night. He said "Isn't it grate," and I agreed. He also recommended that I start reading a book about anti-gravity. Apparently it's really hard to put down!

While I was walking to the bus stop after class, I saw a car with a strange spoiler. It had "Darth Vader is Luke's father" written on it. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I made a math pun on my Facebook status just now. That was the first sine of madness.

I turned on the TV when I got home and there was an ad about a new broom that's sweeping the nation. I went to the fridge to get some Sprite, only to find a Fanta sea. My roommate told me to pass him a knife. As I did that I told him to have a knife day. My other roommate was about to leave for work. She said "See you spoon!" Then our neighbor popped in and told us all to fork off. That was kind of weird.

None of the above actually happened. At least most most of it anyway. However, when I jumped in the pool I went for a spin.

Seagull Fans Rejoice (if they exist)!

So a few days ago I was watching Stoked, and in the episode "Endless Bummer," the day manager at the hotel Andrew Baumer (or "Bummer" as the main characters call him) is revealed to be able to talk to seagulls. At the beginning one seagull refuses to leave the lobby, but Bummer argues with it and it eventually leaves (apparently the seagull insults his mother).

Bummer ends up getting fired after taking relaxation a bit too far after having a meltdown. Near the end of the episode the other characters setup a seagull invasion so Bummer can ward them off and get his job back. He ends up telling the gulls that there's an all-you-can-eat at Captain Ron's (the rival hotel). I think someone at Fresh TV knows me, but I don't know them.

I Like my Sim Cars Cool and Fast!

So I got my hands on the latest Sims 3 stuff pack, The Sims 3 Fast Lane Stuff. Here are some examples of my sims' rides! You can probably tell that I love using create-a-style. It almost feels like I'm playing Need for Speed Underground when I use it with cars! LOL

Overall, I'm happy I bought this stuff pack. Though there are lots of sim cars to download from the Internet, they're all based on real-life brand vehicles which kills the Simlish culture of the game a bit. Now I have more than enough of a selection. I was surprised to see they went the extra mile to include another motorcycle and scooter! Sims can also have friendships with their vehicle which doesn't really do anything except that you get to name your vehicle once the friendship is good enough. Sims with the new vehicle enthusiast trait can name vehicles instantly. There's tons of nice stuff to decorate your garages with, and there's some great new outfits too. I especially love the new formalwear for men and the new high heel shoes for women.

My only gripe is that there's no cute animation when selecting the new trait in create-a-sim as there are with the others. Not a big deal, but it makes the trait look incomplete and I almost thought I had a bug the first time I selected it. If you like cars simmers and need stuff to clutter your sims' garages with, don't hesitate to buy Fast Lane!

Sim Toys Gone Wild!

A little break from the Australia blogging here...I was playing The Sims and my evil sim invented an octopus wind-up toy. Turns out it doesn't need to be wound up because it moves around by itself! However, what made this discovery amusing was that it was near a stereo so it looked like as if it was dancing to the music! Funny stuff. Here's a video I took of it:
